Cape Town - Phil Mickelson was full of praise for his rival Tiger Woods after the latter's victory at the 83rd Masters at Augusta National on Sunday.

The pair have gone head-to-head over the last few decades in several memorable duels.

Woods' win was his fifth at Augusta, while Mickelson's closet boasts three green jackets of its own.

While Woods picked up his 15th Major too close to within three victories of all-time leader Jack Nicklaus, Mickelson signed for a 6-under par total of 282, seven strokes adrift of Woods - and in a tie for 18th place.

Mickelson, who will turn 49 in June, took to Twitter shortly after the tournament to write,

The "rematch" Mickelson referenced was presumably the $9 million 'winner-take-all' head-to-head showdown the two enjoyed late last year in Las Vegas which Mickelson won at the fourth playoff hole.
