TEHRAN -- Iran announced on Monday 5,960 new COVID-19 confirmed infections in the past 24 hours, taking the tally of the novel coronavirus in the country to 574,856, official news agency IRNA reported.

The epidemic claimed 337 more lives in Iran, she said, raising the death toll to 32,953 in the country since the start of the outbreak. (Iran-COVID19)

CAIRO -- Egypt confirmed on Monday that it will participate in a tripartite video ministerial meeting between Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan over the Ethiopian grand hydropower dam built over the Nile River, said the Egyptian water ministry in a statement.

Arranged by South Africa, the current chair of the African Union, the meeting will be held with the aim of resuming negotiations over the rules of filling and operating the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), said Mohamed al-Sebai, spokesman of Egypt's Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, in the statement. BAGHDAD -- The Iraqi Ministry of Health reported on Monday 3,691 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the nationwide infections to 455,398.

The ministry also reported 48 new deaths and 3,244 more recovered cases in the country, raising the death toll from the infectious virus to 10,671 and the total recoveries to 384,593. (Iraq-COVID19)

ADEN, Yemen -- Sporadic fighting between the Yemeni government and the Southern Transitional Council (STC) restarted on Monday as they failed to reach an agreement on a new power-sharing government in the country's southern part.
