BAGHDAD, June 22 (Xinhua) -- A rocket landed Wednesday near a gas field in Iraq's semi-autonomous region of Kurdistan, a security source and a Kurdish media said.

The attack took place in the afternoon when a Katyusha rocket hit the outer fence of the Khor Mor gas field operated by Dana Gas, a United Arab Emirates-based energy company, in the northeastern province of Sulaimaniyah, causing damage to the fence without human casualties, a Kurdish security source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

The Kurdish media net of Rudaw quoted Ahmed al-Mufti, undersecretary of the regional Ministry of Natural Resources, as saying that the operation of the Khor Mor gas field continued without any problem after the attack.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but rockets or drone attacks by militias occur frequently in the Kurdistan region.
