TEHRAN (Tasnim) The Iraqi prime minister expressed his countrys solidarity with Iran in the wake of a huge explosion at Shahid Rajaei Port, saying Iraq is prepared to provide whatever assistance necessary.
- Politics news -In a telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Tuesday,Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani expressed his condolences to the government and people of Iran following the tragic incident at Shahid Rajaei Port.
Al Sudani assured that the Iraqi government stands ready to assist Iran in addressing the aftermath of the incident. He noted that the Iraqi interior minister has been tasked with coordinating efforts with his Iranian counterpart in this regard.
The Iraqiprime minister also emphasized the Quranic teachings on the unity of the Islamic Ummah, stating that all Muslims are like one body. He prayed for the protection of the Islamic Republic of Iran from all evil and harm.
For his part, President Pezeshkian appreciated Al Sudanis sympathy, affirming that Iran regards Iraq as a friendly and brotherly nation, with hopes for mutual support in all circumstances.
The president also noted that the Iranian government is actively investigating the causes of the incident, while rescue and firefighting teams are managing the situation and working to clear the affected area, his official website reported.
